The sun-kissed Puerto Vallarta is a beach resort city in Mexico that is popular to travelers from around the world. This beautiful destination is flanked by lush green mountains and shimmering Pacific waters. It is located midwest of the country within the Banderas Bay. Stretching around 22 kilometers, the Banderas Bay is the second largest bay found on the American continent.
Puerto Vallarta was once a tiny village where people lived by fishing and pearl-diving. Today, the city has become a major tourist destination in Mexico. It boasts of favorable weather condition (averaging 27°C each year), colonial cobblestone streets, and pristine beaches – all making the city a great destination for people who don’t mind a huge crowd.
The city center is a fun-filled labyrinth of authentic cobbled streets filled with excellent restaurants, stylish boutiques, and pulsating bars and clubs that keep party animals entertained from dusk till dawn. The zócalo is Puerto Vallarta’s central gathering spot. It constantly buzzes with life. The Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral backs the zócalo, displaying its imposing tower that you can see throughout the city.
Puerto Vallarta beaches offer a wide range of entertainment and watersports. South beaches are the most popular. But if you want to avoid the crowd and prefer serenity, hop on a water taxi to some gorgeous beaches that are only accessible by boat. If you are a serious surfer, you might want to check out the beaches to the north of Nuevo Vallarta. Daredevils also should not miss extreme activities such as bungee jumping towards Mismaloya.
Too good to be true, you might think. But Puerto Vallarta really lives up, and can exceed, expectations. It is a coastal heaven just waiting for you!
